WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU VISIT
As our guest we want you to feel at home. It's hard to visit a new and strange church for the first time. Our hospitality team would love to assist you and help you feel comfortable when you worship with us. The following will help you know what to expect when you visit us on a Sunday morning. Sunday School begins at 9:00am and our Worship Service begins at 10:30am.Where to Park
We have two parking lots--one one the west side of the building and one in front to the south of the church. We have guest parking in the lot in front of the church. It is best to park there and enter the building through the main entrance on that side of the building. There you will find a welcome center and friendly folks who want to help.
Children
We have classes and activities for children and youth during the 9:30 Sunday School hour and the 10:30 Worship service. For our Worship service children in first grade or above worship in the sanctuary with their parents for the first half of the service. Before the sermon children in the first through fifth grades are then invited to go to their classes. Kids in sixth grade and up remain in the sanctuary. Our hospitality team will show you where that is. Just ask. For infants, toddlers, and pre school children we have a nursery and classes staffed by loving folks who have been screened and are fully qualified to care for your children. You will be given a pager in case the nursery staff needs to get hold of you. You are more than welcome to have your children in the sanctuary during church if you desire. What to Wear
We have no dress code at First Church of Christ and invite you to wear whatever you are comfortable in. The only "requirement" we have is modesty. You will see folks wearing jeans, suits, shorts (in the summer), ties, casual dress, etc. The point is that you should not worry about dress or let that deter you from worshipping at First Church of Christ!
Worship
On any given Sunday our worship varies. We are a congregation comprised of all different ages, thus we try to achieve a balanced blended music style. Some Sundays we will sing mostly hymns accompanied by a piano. Other Sundays we will have a praise band and sing many newer worship songs. Sometimes each service will contain a mixture. We also utilize video in our worship service and preaching.
Communion
We believe in the importance of communion and take communion every Sunday. You do not have to be a member to partake of the Lord's Supper (communion). All are welcome. Our particular belief is that participation in communion is for those who are followers of Jesus Christ.
The Offering
In every worship service we collect an offering as an act of obedience and worship. We believe strongly in the biblical mandate to give generously. Thus, it is addressed often in sermons. However . . . as our guest we do not want you to feel compelled to give during the offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. So please don't feel awkward about not giving if you don't want to.
